Hello, I am Dr. Amy Woerner

I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in working with preschool and school-age children, teens, and their parents. My approach is collaborative, trauma informed, and strengths-based, utilizing a variety of evidence-based practices. I most often utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Play Therapy. Additionally, I am certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) by PCIT International. Concerns I most often help with include disruptive behaviors, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety disorders, including Selective Mutism, adjustment disorder, and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

My Training & Experience

I obtained my B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. at Alliant International University, San Diego. During my clinical training in community mental health settings, I obtained extensive experience working with children and adolescence with a variety of challenges, including experiencing traumatic events, anxiety, depression, difficulties with social situations, disruptive behaviors, and school challenges. I am trained in TF- CBT and have utilized this evidence-based therapy with a number of children and their families. Additionally, I have five years of experience providing ABA therapy to children with ASD and six years of experience utilizing PCIT techniques to treat disruptive behavior problems in children, including children diagnosed with ADHD and/or ASD. I have four years of experience working with children and teens diagnosed with Selective Mutism and/or Social Anxiety Disorders. Lastly, I work with parents to teach them about patterns of Selective Mutism (SM) and how to get their child talking to others.
