Individual Therapy

I offer individual therapy for children and teens. I focus creating a supportive environment where they can build trust and share their experiences with me. I will collaborate with you and your child to create a plan to address your child or teens specific challenges, such as anxiety, social difficulties, anger, or difficulties with emotion regulation. With a personalized plan we will work together to provide your child with the skills needed to develop a better understanding of themselves and succeed in all aspects of their life.

Who do I see?

I work individually with children and teens, ages 4-18. While this is my most common age range I do consider working with individuals slightly younger or older on a case-by-case basis. For some children, especially younger children, the format of video sessions is not the best fit and I recommend in-person therapy instead.

Common Concerns

I see children and teens with a wide range of concerns. Some of the most common challenges I help with include:

  • Adjustment Disorders (difficulty adjusting to a significant life stressor such as moving schools, getting a new sibling, receiving a medical diagnosis, changes at school)

  • Anxiety, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobias, Separation Anxiety Disorder, and Selective Mutism (SM)

  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disoder (ADHD)

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Behavioral difficulties (e.g., tantrums, non compliance, aggression)

  • Depression

  • Social Challenges (e.g., making friends, bullying, perspective taking)

  • *If your concern is not listed here please reach out to discuss whether I am the best fit for your child

Types of Therapy

My approach to treatment with your child is very personalized. I often draw on skills and techniques from a variety of therapies to meet the needs and preferences of your child. Most often I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness approaches, Behavioral theories, and Strengths-based strategies. Building on an individual's strengths helps to jumpstart change and build your child's confidence in their ability to manage their problems.  If you have questions about a specific type of therapy please feel free to contact me directly.
